Five Bucks

The herd at Cedar Park had at least five stags when I was there. That was the first time I saw five bucks without a photo of Lincoln!

Yes, the deer at Cedar Park Cemetery are indeed this tame in terms of not spooking with a person quite near. I did move gently and non-threateningly, but these are not superlong telephotos. I really was able to get up close to both does and stags.

A visit to the graves of family in Cedar Park Cemetery near Blue Island Illinois offered an opportunity to see several deer, quite calm and unfazed by cars and people. The deer are a common sight at that resting place.

Back at the cul-de-sac, the deer struck a nice pose for me before moseying off into the trees. And all the while, the sun was moseying off into the horizon. Here we see the dark branches of the forest criss-crossing into a web of a forest.

A former student had mentioned that several deer prowled his yard almost daily, so a side trip on an errand brought me by for a peek. Lo and behold, I had been there only a moment when I looked up and there she was. It was that late afternoon time, where light is so gentle and yet powerful.

Christmas Transportation

One of Santa's reindeer was seen snacking at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle. Certainly tamer than the average wild deer, Donder (I think) continued munching as I snapped more than one photo.

Have a good flight tomorrow night; make sure to get to Gianna & Joey and to Carolyn & Bobby. To me, they are the heart of Christmas!
